SIIS Co-hosts the Fourth International Workshop on Building Regional Security Architecture in Asia Pacific

On October 11-12, 2021, Shanghai Institutes for International Studies hosted the Fourth International Workshop on Building Regional Security Architecture in Asia Pacific in collaboration with the Centre for Strategic and International Studies Indonesia (CSIS). The theme of this year’s workshop is “Building Regional Security Architecture in the Post-Pandemic Era: Prospect and Solution”.


President Chen Dongxiao of SIIS and Mr. Jusuf Wanandi, Vice-chair of Board of Trustees, CSIS Foundation delivered opening remarks for the workshop. Mr. Chen Wei, Counsellor of the Department of Asian Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China was invited to deliver a speech as guest speaker. Nearly thirty participants from China, Indonesia, Russia, South Korea, Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand had an in-depth discussion on “The Prospect of Building Regional Security Architecture in the Post-Pandemic Era” and “Safeguarding Regional Security and Stability: Asian Countries in Action”. President Chen Dongxiao and Mr. Jusuf Wanandi wrapped up the discussion.


The annual international workshop on Building Regional Security Architecture in Asia Pacific was initiated in 2017 to implement the initiative proposed by Premier Li Keqiang at the 11th East Asia Summit. Co-organized by SIIS and CSIS Indonesia, the workshop has been held three times in Shanghai and Jakarta and become an important platform for track 2 dialogue on regional security issues.
